EReg Topic Group XIX on virtual driving licences focusses on the changes that are necessary in European legislation to make the introduction and use of mobile and non physical driving licences possible.
The 3rd Directive on driving licences (2006/126/EC) was agreed upon at a time that the current available technologies were not yet in place. The members of the Topic Group consider it of interest to follow new developments in the non-physical driving licence domain. A follow up meeting was organised on 22 September 2020. Subjects on the agenda of the meeting were the current state of affairs on mDL/ virtual driving licences in the countries of the EReg Members and developments at EU and ISO level.
